Recently, the "Epoxy-cold-wrapped zinc anode casing corrosion protection technology" researched by the oil and gas anti-corrosion laboratory of Changqing Oilfield Technology Research Institute was listed as a key new technology promotion project of China National Petroleum Corporation in 2004.

Experts said that the “epoxy cold-wrapped zinc anode casing corrosion protection process” uses a positive zinc alloy anode and casing together to provide a protective current to the casing, causing the casing to produce cathodic polarization and stop corrosion. Epoxy-cold-wrapped tape isolates the corrosive medium on the outside of the casing and reduces the bare steel protection area, which in turn creates a complementary effect with the joint protection of the zinc anode. This process is a new economical casing anti-corrosion technology combined with two anti-corrosion technologies.

In 2003, the oil and water wells focused on the Xifeng area were extensively applied and improved. It was shown that the anticorrosive casing of 4 wells showed that the anticorrosion process has high reliability and can effectively extend the life of the casing by 2 to 3 times and solve long-term problems. A major technical problem that has plagued oilfield production.
