U.S. launches coextruded adhesives

Recently, Equistar Chemical (Houston, USA) introduced two Plexar 6000 series adhesive layer materials for co-extrusion blow molding (blown molding), co-extrusion blown film and coextruded sheet. The new grades are maleic anhydride (MAH) modified PP (polypropylene) graft copolymers, characterized by excellent processability and functionality (adhesion), high adhesion strength to barrier resins such as EVOH and nylon, and transparency. Good performance, excellent processability can be done very thin and meet high extrusion line speed requirements, both brands meet the FDA requirements for adhesives.

Plexar PX6002 is a co-extruded blown and film grade. This high molecular weight grade is expected to be a demanding resin in the new series, with a melt flow rate of 2.3 g/10 min, a density of 0.892 g/cm3, and a Vicat softening point of 122°C. Plexar PX6006 is a high-performance resin for co-extruded sheet and deep-draw thermoforming, and is also planned to be expanded for co-extruded blow-molded bottles with a melt flow rate of 4.0 g/10 min and a density of 0.892 g/ Cm3, Vicat softening point 119°C.
