In recent months, the AQSIQ (General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine) conducted a national product quality supervision inspection on range hoods in several key regions, including Ningbo, Zhejiang, Shaoxing, Shunde, Guangdong, and other major cities. The purpose of this inspection was to enhance market order, ensure product quality, and protect consumer interests.
A total of 17 out of 20 products passed the random sampling tests, resulting in an 85% pass rate. This indicates that the overall quality of range hoods remains stable compared to previous inspections. The evaluation was based on national mandatory standards such as GB 4706.19-2008 and GB 4706.28-1999, as well as recommended standards like GB/T 38771-1999. A total of 19 testing items were evaluated, covering both safety and performance aspects.
Among the tested products, two failed to meet the mandatory safety requirements, while one did not comply with the product specifications. However, all products met the requirements of the GB/T 38771-1999 standard. Some brands, such as Huadi's European-style range hood model YZ-200202, produced by Zhongshan Huadi Gas Appliance Co., Ltd., and Baolan's deep-type models, demonstrated excellent design, functionality, and quality.
Despite these positive results, some products had critical issues. For example, certain models had structural problems that allowed users to accidentally touch live parts during maintenance. This could lead to electric shocks if proper precautions are not taken. Additionally, some products failed the temperature rise test for the lamp holder, which could cause overheating and damage over time.
The inspection also highlighted concerns regarding product design and manufacturing. Some range hoods had sharp edges or protruding screws, posing a risk of injury during cleaning or maintenance. Others had insufficient creepage and clearance distances, increasing the risk of electrical hazards.
In response to these findings, the AQSIQ urged local quality and technical supervision departments to expose companies with substandard products and ensure they take corrective actions. Consumers are advised to carefully follow the user manuals when maintaining their range hoods, especially when handling internal components or replacing bulbs.
This inspection underscores the importance of continuous quality control and adherence to safety standards in the production of household appliances. As the industry continues to grow, it is crucial for manufacturers to prioritize safety, durability, and user experience in their designs.
