The Netherlands will pack frozen vegetables in multi-layer biodegradable plastic film bags

BIOP Biopolymer Technologies, headquartered in Germany, is a specialist in the production of multi-layered biodegradable plastic films. The company's products are made of 1-1.5% nanoparticles and the company cooperates with some of the major vegetable producers for the production and application of this material.

In order to meet the needs of more users, BIOP Biopolymer Technologies, in cooperation with the famous chemical company BASF, has established a new plant for the production of multilayer biodegradable films. The site of the new plant will be selected in Brandenburg, Germany. By September 2005, the annual output of this film will be increased to 10,000 tons. The company also cooperated with the Dutch Agrotechnology and Food Innovations Research Center (Agrotechnology and Food Innovations) to develop the film, which has now reached the semi-industrial stage.

Fritz de Jong, CEO of BIOP Biopolymer Technologies, said: "This film is almost a copy of the PE film. The biggest difference between them is that the three-layer biodegradable plastic film has a better oxygen barrier. And have a very high moisture permeability (WVTR), which is lower cost than PE film, because PE film also needs to add additives to improve the performance of the diaphragm.

BIOP Biopolymer Technologies' single-layer biodegradable film material, BIOPAR, is a blend of starch and biopolymers. It has been used by Dutch supermarket chain Ahold for biodegradable garbage bags.
