The layout is a prepress discipline with its own amount of information. In theory it is simple. But in fact, it is quite complicated. The big version is a bit like taking a blues step-five minutes to learn for life.

The mark map is the smallest component of the layout layer. Many layouts are generated by many marked images. Each mark consists of the front and back of the printed sheet. Multiple pages of prints that can be printed on a single sheet of paper constitute many markings. Before you create the mark map and do the imposition work, only a few printed sheet parameters need to be determined.

· What binding type will be used?

· How will the second side of the printed sheet be printed?

· What size paper will be used?

· How will the printed pages be folded?

Interestingly, for some methods of double-sided printing on offset presses, even skilled professionals will be indistinguishable. For this reason, we will briefly explain here.

Double-sided printing

Most printed sheets are printed on both sides of the printed sheet. Duplex printing is a way. Duplex printing requires a multi-unit printing unit with devices between the printing units. This facility can pull printed sheets to the other side while allowing the remaining units to print the second side. This kind of facility that can turn over printed sheets is called a double-sided printing machine.

Another way to print the second side is by processing printed sheets. This means printing the other side after the first printing. The author of the printing press takes back the printed sheet for printing on the other side, recodes the paper, and starts printing again.

Both (printing) methods require that the distribution of pages on the film is in the correct order, so that when the paper is pulled out, the correct printed sheet is printed on the back. Not only must the pages be placed in the correct order, they must also be concentrated for easy printing on the back. The parameters used for the layout depends on the parameters of the printing machine, the binding method, or the printer.

There are three ways to make a large layout: self-turning, rolling and positive and negative printing. They differ in how the printed sheet is processed after the first side of the printed sheet is printed. [next]

Self-turning

The self-turning method is to print both sides of the printed sheet with the same plate. After the first side is printed, it is turned over, and the teeth of the side remain stationary. This means that when on the second side, the paper gripper of the printing press is the same as the first side.

Roll over

Rollover is similar to self-turning, except that the first side of the printed sheet is printed, and the paper is not flipped, but rolled. This means that the paper chatter is not on the same side of the paper.

Positive and negative printing

Positive and negative printing means printing the second side of the page with different plates. For the positive and negative edition layouts, you need two separate editions-each for one-sided printing. Correct appearance bleeding. Many printing providers have different bleeding requirements. Controlling bleeding is so important that you can change the number of prints depending on specific printing requirements.

Binding method. The application supports wireless binding, saddle stitching and other common binding methods.

User-defined margins and stapling. When the correct reading of a book or document is restricted, the space between the two pages must be defined. Accumulating these gaps helps to accommodate things like crawling. Plate layout such as bottleneck status and placing scattered pages on the mark map.

Crawl. The creep change depends on the paper thickness. It is possible that each job has different crawling characteristics.

The author can type in the paper to let the application adjust automatically.

Bottle status. The bottle shape means that the paper is not square after being folded. The shape of the bottle changes with the folding method and binding method. Make sure the application allows different changes to be entered to reach the minimum bottle status.

Efficiency considerations

Handle OPI and DCS files. Spelling color files requires huge storage capacity and computing power. Each page (capacity) can reach a maximum of 60MB, and an eight-piece imposition can easily be up to 0.5GB. Using OPI and DCS files can make the imposition faster, because the application does not require all data to be copied, just for the placement of OPI files.

Imaging performance. When the color print is electronic, the program must be able to fully control the way the page is output. Depending on the printing method, there are many properties available. For ease of naming, the film can be positive or negative, with the photosensitive emulsion on the upper or lower layer. The ability to select different development and screen lines and color separation support is also necessary.

Printing marks. The placement and calibration of printed marks should be user-defined. Some templates include printed marks that are pre-set on the mark map. Although the use of printed marks is useful, a good signboard for imposition software is that it allows the author to move the mark to the point where it is most needed for a particular printing press. Not all printed logos are created equally, nor do all printers prefer to use pre-defined printed marks. It is very important that the printing production personnel have the ability to create their own logo and apply it in the program.

Control austerity. Many printing machines have different types of clamping plates clinging to the cylinder. Because of this difference, author control is required from the edge of the printing plate to the edge of the paper.

Electronic viewing platform. This facility allows producers to check on the display whether the back of the paper is suitable before printing. It reduces the amount of damage. It is also important for computer-to-plate systems, because no one wants the printing press to be a proofing system.

The template platform is variable. Many imposition software can be applied on Mac and personal computers. Many prepress companies have more than one computer dedicated to imposition. In a complex platform environment, it becomes important that the created templates can be transferred to another platform without losing functionality.

Some of all these features or defaults are important when you decide which software to choose for your workflow to understand. Another program feature may be interesting, but it may not matter to your business. Things like the interface, the programs found in the workflow, and the width of the final product are rarely considered.

No matter what way you look at it, the ability to spell electronic document versions is the last obstacle to running large format output devices and digital printing presses. Now that we have this technology, it will be an important three-in-one: printing press, imposition software application and output facility.
